B.S. in Chemistry: University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, 2021

Natalia was born in Puerto Rico and pursued her undergraduate Chemistry degree at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. During her undergraduate career, she worked in the lab of Dr. Wildeliz Torres studying the gold-catalyzed oxidation of alkynes toward a one-pot synthesis of epoxides. Natalia also had the opportunity to conduct research at Penn State as a summer REU participant in the Silakov lab.  There, Natalia worked with oxygen-tolerant hydrogenases. Natalia decided to leave warm Puerto Rico in favor of Pennsylvania weather and enrolled at PSUU in the Fall of 2021. Natalia joined the Elacqua and Nacsa groups as a coadvised student in the Spring of 2022. Outside of the lab, Natalia enjoys coffee, playing video games, and reading books.
