Benton Bickerton
B.S. in Chemistry: Seton Hill University, 2021

Benton was raised in western Pennsylvania and pursued his undergraduate degree in chemistry at Seton Hill University. During that time, Benton was a Division II cross country and track and field athlete. Benton had the opportunity to work with Dr. Jonathan Brantley at the University of Tenesee through a summer REU program. In this program, he got his fist taste of polymer chemistry and worked on the synthesis of metallopolymers. He enrolled in the Ph.D. program at PSU in the fall of 2021, and joined the group in spring of 2022. Benton joioned the ROMP subgroup, where he could combine his love of synthesis with some cool polymer chemistry! Outside of the lab, Benton loves to run (his 'just for fun' distance is 10 miles), and also enjoys reading, hiking, and landscape photography. In the lab, Benton is the one student that everyone is afraid to dissapoint!
