Argha hails from the tranquil town Haldia in West Bengal, India, where he completed his early education before relocating to Kolkata to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (Hons.) at Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur. After successfully qualifying the prestigious all-India JAM exam in 2013, he pursued M.Sc. in Chemistry at IIT Hyderabad. Under the guidance of Prof. Ganesan Prabusankar, Argha began his research career by developing innovative bidentate selones-supported bismuth(III) catalysts. In 2015, Argha was honored with the JICA "Friendship" Scholarship, which facilitated his doctoral studies at Osaka University, Japan. There, under the mentorship of Prof. Kazushi Mashima, he focused on the deoxygenative reduction of nitro and sulfoxide compounds using organosilicon reagents, commonly known as "Mashima Reagents", culminating in Ph.D. in organic and organometallic chemistry in 2019. Following his doctoral studies, Argha continued his research as a research associate at IIT Mumbai. Working with Prof. Irishi Namboothiri and co-supervisors Prof. Arindrajit Chowdhury and Prof. Neeraj Kumbhakarna, his work concentrated on the development of complex polycyclic strained hydrocarbon-based cage compounds, including cubane, bishomocubane, and propellane frameworks. Additionally, he engaged in a project on the synthesis of azole-grafted polymers and binders for applications in composite materials. In September 2024, Argha began his role as a postdoctoral scholar at Penn State University. Since joining our group, his research has concentrated on developing innovative methods for synthesizing conjugated polymers through ROMP and designing and synthesizing folded polymer-supported catalysts for light-mediated reactions. Beyond his academic pursuits, Argha has a keen interest in outdoor activities, including traveling, hiking, cycling, playing soccer and cricket. His curiosity about diverse cultures and environments drives his passion for exploring the world.
